Kelly Duren

Kelly Duren

Kelly Duren graduated from the University of Georgia. He piloted the Drama and Theatre Teacher Certification program there, and went on the become the first teacher in the state to be fully certified in Drama and Theatre Education. He received extensive instruction in children's theatre, the Staubetic acting method, dance, design, and musical theatre. He worked at the Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts under the direction of Linda Green after graduation. He has done numerous stints in summer stock performing in a variety of musicals and plays. His first love is directing, and enjoys spectacle and grand style. He is also teacher certified in English and been named STAR Teacher and Teacher of the Year in Chatham County.

Terresa Kizer Department Chair

Terresa Kizer holds a Bachelor of Science in Education, from Central Missouri State University, with majors in English, Speech, and Drama.  With nineteen years of teaching experience, she previously specialized in Speech and Debate, earning the title of National Qualifying Speech and Debate Coach.  She now applies her passion for nurturing young talent and building confidence in her students as Technical Theatre teacher.  She has been at SAA since 2006..

Thomas Lovett

Thomas E. Lovett
A Savannah native, he attended Norfolk State College as a Music major, and Old Dominion University as a Business major. He has been involved with theater tech since eighth grade. Having worked professionally as a musician,( national and world tours with various artists and bands), and in theater and stage productions for twenty-eight years, (Savannah Civic Center,  Madison Square Gardens, The Jefferson complex in Birmingham Ala), began working here at Savannah Arts Academy in 2007 seeking to offer an opportunity to students who aspire to enter the field of theater arts, an in depth look at what really goes on behind the scenes. The three years here have been quite fulfilling.
